Multipop is a maths game for children (adding, taking away, times tables and sharing), made by JCOM LLC, 1309 Coffeen Avenue STE 1200, Sheridan, Wyoming 82801, United States ("we", "us"), which is the data controller for any personal data described in this policy. The short version: there is no account, your child's real name and progress stay on the device, the world ranks only ever see a made-up game name and points, and the ads shown in free play are child-directed and never personalised.
What the app stores on the device
- Progress (points, levels, streaks, which facts were answered right or wrong, puzzles, outfits) and settings (sounds, reminders, appearance) are stored only on the device, in the app's private storage. Deleting the app deletes them.
- Players. Each player has a first name or nickname, a colour and an age, so several children can share a device and each gets maths that fits. The name and the exact age stay on the device and are never sent to us or to anyone else.
- The app never asks for an email address, photo, precise location or contacts, and has no chat, no messages and no free text that other people can see.
World ranks and crews (from version 2.0)
Multipop 2.0 has daily ranks, so children can see how their practice compares with other players of the same age group, and crews, so a family, friends or a class can follow each other. To do this, the app sends the following to our own server (multipop.app), run by JCOM LLC:
- a random player ID created on the device (not linked to the device, the Apple Account or any person; the server stores only a scrambled version of it);
- the game name, which the child picks from a list of made-up names such as "Brave Panda" (it can't be typed, so it can never be a real name);
- the outfit worn by Pip, the app's mascot, and the age group (3 to 5, 6 to 7, 8 to 9, 10 to 11 or 12 and over, never the age itself);
- the day's points, the daily challenge result and time, the number of days played in a row and the number of new levels reached;
- a country, shown as a flag next to the game name. The server takes it from the country our network provider (Cloudflare) reports for the connection, or from the phone's Region setting when that is unknown. The IP address itself is never stored.
Other players see only the game name, flag, outfit, points and days in a row. A crew has a six-letter code; anyone with the code can see the crew's game names and points, so share it only with people you know. The app shares a code or a challenge result only when you choose to, through the iPhone's share sheet.
Turning it off and deleting it. A grown-up can switch off "Show on the ranks" for each player in Settings. Switching it off, resetting a player's progress or deleting a player removes that player's ranks data and crew membership from our server. Daily ranks data is deleted automatically after 40 days. A crew is deleted when its last member leaves.
What else we collect
- Anonymous usage statistics and crash reports. To see which parts of the app are used and to fix crashes, the app sends anonymous events (such as "round finished" with the score, the game mode and the age group) and crash reports to our own server (telemetry.jcom.llc), run by JCOM LLC. They carry a random install ID that is not linked to any person, name or account, and they are not used for advertising or to build a profile. Each report also carries basic technical details: the app version, the iOS version, the device language setting and the App Store country. When a crash report arrives, the server also records the IP address it came from and the country derived from it, to find problems that affect a region; this is kept only as long as needed to fix the crash. No names are ever sent.
- Email. If a parent writes to us, we keep the message to answer it. We don't add anyone to a list.
Reminders
If you turn on the daily reminder, the iPhone schedules it locally. Nothing about it is sent to us.
Advertising (free play)
In free play, Multipop shows a short full-screen ad between rounds, never during a question and never in the first session. Ads are served by Google AdMob (Google LLC). Every ad request is tagged as child-directed and as coming from a user under the age of consent, and limited to content suitable for general audiences. With these settings Google does not use the request for personalised advertising, remarketing or interest profiles. The app does not ask for permission to track and never accesses the device's advertising identifier. No ranks data is ever shared with Google.
To serve and measure an ad, Google's software collects technical data such as the IP address (from which an approximate location is derived), device and operating-system information, an app-scoped identifier and how the ad was shown, plus diagnostic data about the ad itself. Google processes this under its own policies: How Google uses information from apps that use its services and the Google Privacy Policy. In the EEA, UK and Switzerland, a consent message from Google may appear where the law requires it. Multipop Pro removes the ads.
Purchases
Multipop Pro (an optional monthly subscription with a free trial, or a one-time lifetime purchase) is sold and billed by Apple; we never see payment details. To know whether Pro is active, the app uses RevenueCat (RevenueCat, Inc.), which receives an anonymous app user ID and the purchase receipt details from Apple (product, date, country, price). See the RevenueCat privacy policy. Subscriptions are managed and cancelled in the iPhone's Settings, under your Apple Account.
What we don't do
- No personalised or behavioural advertising, no ad tracking, no selling of data.
- No account, no sign-up, no chat and no messages between players.
- No precise location, camera, microphone or contacts access.
Children
Multipop is designed for children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children: real names and ages stay on the device. What leaves the device is the ranks data described above (a random player ID, a made-up game name, age group, country, outfit and points, which a grown-up can switch off), the anonymous usage and crash information, the child-directed ad requests handled by Google, and purchase status handled by Apple and RevenueCat. If you believe we hold information about your child, write to us and we will delete it.
Your choices and rights
- Switch off the ranks for a player in Settings, or delete a player, to remove their ranks data from our server.
- Delete all progress by deleting the app, or reset a player's progress in Settings.
- Remove the ads with Multipop Pro, or by turning off the device's internet connection while playing (the app works offline).
- You can turn off crash reports and analytics for all apps in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Analytics & Improvements.
- Where a law such as COPPA (US), the GDPR (EU/UK) or the CCPA (California) gives you rights to access, correct or delete data, email us. We do not sell personal data. You may also complain to your local data protection authority.
Data retention and security
Ranks data is kept for 40 days, crews until their last member leaves, and both are removed earlier when a grown-up switches the ranks off or deletes the player. Anonymous usage and crash data is kept only as long as needed to understand and fix problems. Email is kept as long as needed to answer it. Data on the device is protected by iOS device encryption, and our server is reached only over encrypted connections.
Changes
If we change this policy we'll update the date at the top and, for meaningful changes, mention it in the app's release notes.
